Equipment Cleaning & Repair
Keep your gear clean and fresh
A lot of players go through their whole careers without cleaning their hockey equipment. Unlike the pros, who have it done for them, most players don't have the time, couldn't be bothered or are unaware of how to clean their gear.
The easiest way to do it is to make sure you hang everything out to dry after playing. There are hockey hangers and hanger-type hockey equipment bags on the market to help you, or you can use regular hangers.
You can also wash your equipment with detergent, by hand, in a large sink or bathtub and hang it to dry. It's not advisable to put equipment in a washing machine or dryer. There are also hockey equipment sprays and hockey deodorizers on the market. If none of these methods work there are industrial cleaners out there who clean hockey equipment. You just have to seek them out.
Hockey Equipment Repair
With the cost of ice and equipment hockey can be quite an expensive sport to play. It makes sense to repair any minor damage to your hockey equipment rather than replace it. You can check around town for sports shops that do repairs - or for anything leather or stitching related you may be able to get repairs done at a shoe repair shop. These shops can usually handle small hockey glove and hockey skate repairs. Tears in hockey pants and hockey jerseys etc. can usually be repaired at home. It's always a good idea to see if your favorite, and most comfortable pieces of equipment, can be repaired before throwing them out.
